Amber Gurung is a Bhutanese Community of Cincinnati’s Board of Directors (BOD) member. He is an IT enthusiast, entrepreneur, and dedicated social service activist with a unique background and vision for community empowerment. Born in Bhutan, Amber was raised in the Bhutanese Refugee Camp in Jhapa, Nepal, where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Physics. From 2005 to 2010, he contributed to the educational field as a high school teacher before resettling in the United States in 2010.
Upon arriving in Sacramento, California, Amber embarked on a career that blended his IT aspirations with educational pursuits. He worked as a general supervisor while enhancing his IT skills, culminating in completing the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certification in 2014. He then transitioned into the role of IT developer, a position he held until his move to Cincinnati in 2017. Since then, Amber has been thriving as an entrepreneur and realtor, demonstrating his versatility and adaptability in the professional landscape.
Amber has volunteered with the Buddhist Community of Cincinnati since 2017. He is dedicated to serving the community and playing a crucial role in its development. He is committed to integrating Information Technology and communication within the organization to foster youth empowerment and create a vibrant, interconnected, and well-supported community within the Bhutanese Community and beyond. Through his leadership and foresight, Amber aims to fortify the Bhutanese Community of Cincinnati’s position as a dynamic and inclusive community organization.
